Our internship program in 2026 will offer positions across global locations such as Sweden, China, United States and more!

2. Personality questionnaire

If you are selected, you will receive a link to a personality questionnaire that will take you 20 min to fill in.

3. Interview

The shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the recruiter and then interview with Human Resources responsible and the department manager.

4. Local contract

If you are among the final candidates, you will arrange your international internship locally together with the Human resources responsible.

5. Internship onboarding

Now you are welcome to join the world of Atlas Copco Group and become part of the group of international students. You will start your first period with your mentor to guide you through your exiting development journey at Atlas Copco.

The product company Atlas Copco BLM is specialized in Quality Assurance and Manual Tightening and belongs to Motor Vehicle Industry, one of the divisions in Atlas Copco Industrial Technique Business Area. Antonio will dedicate his efforts as a Junior Product Specialist in the marketing department during the time of the Program. “Here, I can collaborate with my new colleagues, growing day by day and learning the products portfolio developed in the company,” he says.

Can you tell us about your tasks and experiences in the internship so far? What are the biggest challenges?

The internship journey has certainly been a wonderful experience so far; I’ve gotten to know a lot of new people, from my team members to many professional figures inside the Atlas Copco Group. Working in a team, splitting tasks and helping each other makes the work very effective and creates a very comfortable clime inside the group, even if we’re all focused on our target.

My teammates are friendly and smart people, we have weekly meetings in which we discuss about our project steps and how to manage them in the best way. The biggest challenge inside this Global Internship will of course be to present a well-structured and developed project; it’s not simple to manage the amount of work we have to face, but we are a very cohesive group and at the end we will certainly make it.

Explain more about your dedicated project that has been assigned to you. What is your role in this?

My team is dedicated to “Remote Services in the Industrial Technique (AIS) Division”; after a lot of interviews inside the Atlas Copco Group that made us understand the gap between the “as is” and the desired “to be” situations, we split the group in some sub-groups and now we are focused on possible remote service solutions, also making research and looking at different competitors’ and other companies’ offers (my subgroup’s task). Finally, we’ll have to realize different business models to make our project more concrete.

Who are you interacting with in Atlas Copco?

Here in Atlas Copco I’m collaborating with both my teammates (virtually) to develop our project, and my colleagues in the product company based in Milan, especially in Marketing and R&D divisions. I also had a lot of virtual interviews with different relevant figures in the Atlas Copco Group around the world for the global project.

What have you learned about our culture and values so far?

During this Internship experience I’ve learned a lot of things: I know better how to collaborate with people so far away from me, I’ve improved my technical knowledge of products and how to organize my time more efficiently. Some real values I love from this company are that people come first and that you get a lot of responsibility from day one. That gives you freedom and flexibility but also makes you understand the importance of being well-organized and focused on your work.

How did the business project turn out?

The project has been a real success! Our final project presentation was very effective, and we received a lot of great feedback from the stakeholders we presented it to. This project represents the beginning of new and upcoming developments on “Remote Services” in the divisions. 

How was the internship experience as a whole?

I think this internship has been a wonderful experience. The business project was very demanding in each of its parts; from interviews, competitor analyses, potential solutions analyses, business cases, to conclusions, but of course we also felt very motivated to use our potential to the fullest. 

Overall, this internship has given me the opportunity to improve my self-confidence and many other skills that will be useful for the future. I have also gotten to know a lot of smart and professional people in the Group. 

What’s it like working at Atlas Copco?

In Atlas Copco you will find a lot of passionate people working together to achieve their targets. Knowledge-sharing and collaboration are key aspects here. From day one, the working environment has been the main inspiration for my personal and professional growth. It’s about working freely, taking responsibility, making decisions, and choosing your way to reach your goals. 

What are your main learnings from the internship program?

I have certainly learned very much about Atlas Copco’s portfolio, something that has helped improve my technical knowledge. Moreover, working with an international team and holding presentations frequently has improved my communication skills. 

What was your strangest experience during the internship?

Unfortunately, performing this internship remotely and “at-distance” has affected the whole experience due to the lack of face-to-face interactions. In any case, I have had a lot of virtual fun with my teammates. Above all, from the successes we experienced together to the moments when we all understood that we all needed another coffee.

Interests: Passionate about technology and design. 

Over the course of the Global Internship Program Hanna is based in Atlas Copco Group’s headquarters in Sickla, Sweden where she will work in the Motor Vehicle Industry within Industrial Technique’s R&D department. “I’m currently assisting one of the departments in their strategic work. It’s very interesting and is giving me an overview of all the on-going projects within R&D,” she says. 

A unique opportunity to learn

“In short, the Industrial Internship Program stretches over a little more than a year and includes a summer and part-time job, the possibility to write a master thesis as well as participate in workshops and study programs that are held by Atlas Copco’s Vice Presidents,” Hanna says and explains that everyone is given a global business project to complete over the summer together with other participants in the Program. “I look forward to getting to know, working with, and learning from all the talented people I meet. I also expect to grow professionally by deep diving into intriguing technology and design,” Hanna concludes.

During the internship Ebba will also work on a global project together with a few other students in the program. The project revolves around future business models for software services.

“I have always been fascinated by the motor vehicle industry and was looking for an opportunity to work in an international team with fun and interesting challenges. I had heard great things about Atlas Copco’s ways of working and the culture, so I applied,” says Ebba when asked about the reasons for participating in the internship.  

Early learnings

Ebba explains that she has gained a lot of insight in how the company is organized during the first weeks of the internship. She has also become more familiar with some of the tools and software services used in the division and gotten a feel for the warm and welcoming culture. Going forward, she expects to learn even more about the division, the customers’ needs and challenges.

Explain more about the dedicated project that has been assigned to you. What is your role in this?

With the new demands of industry 4.0, data and software have become increasingly important for Atlas Copco’s clients. Just as the industry is changing, so are customers’ needs. Our project goal is to recommend a future business model for Atlas Copco’s software services in the manufacturing industry. We are therefore reevaluating at how Atlas Copco could sell software in the future.

My role in this project is as project leader. I try to ensure that the team is aligned and that we follow our dedicated project plan. The role includes contacting and organizing meetings with our project sponsor as well as with our supervisors. It also means following up on the team’s weekly action points as well as giving support to team members whenever this is needed. 

Can you tell us about tasks and experiences in the internship so far?

To determine the best choice of business model we’ve gathered information from different sources. Early on, we for example conducted several internal interviews with employees to get a better understanding of what they believe is the best way forward. We have also done desktop research to identify market trends that potentially could affect the choice of business model. Apart from that we have reviewed how some of our industrial peers offer their software and we have also spoken with existing customers to determine how they would prefer to buy software.

The biggest challenge in all of this has been to coordinate our activities and make sure that we as a project team has understood the tasks and results in a similar way. To make it easier for us, I as project leader, made a visual project plan where each activity was presented and a timeline showing how much time and effort that was needed to finish the task. We also schedule regular meetings twice a week to make sure that we are aligned as a team. 

Who are you interacting with in the company?

My project group consists of six people, all from Asia or Europe, and we are in daily contact. My manager is also my project supervisor, which makes it easy to bounce ideas on teams or in the office with him. In addition to the mentioned interaction, we have also contacted and held interviews with colleagues, local customer centers and with customers in different locations in the world. It’s been interesting to learn about people’s different perceptions about our project and to hear their ideas. Our colleagues in China and Sweden have for example mentioned very different behaviors and preferences from their respective clients. 

What have you learned about our culture and values so far?

That Atlas Copco is a decentralized company where competence and knowledge is spread out in the whole company. The business culture here supports the organizational structure and you are encouraged to ask questions and to interact with people worldwide. Everyone is really helpful and supportive.

How did the project turn out?

We managed to identify a future business model suitable for software for Atlas Copco. Our sponsors and other stakeholders were happy with the results. Our recommendation was supported by findings from both a market and internal perspective. 

How was the internship experience as a whole?

It has been insightful. I have learned a lot about myself as a leader, other cultures and more about our business project topic. By working on a project from start to finish, the team and I experienced all kinds of challenges and learned a lot on the way. 

What’s it like working at Atlas Copco?

People here are warm and welcoming. The company is very decentralized and international, and you are therefore frequently in contact with people in different parts of the world. A key element of working at Atlas Copco is therefore networking.

I also think that Atlas Copco values work life balance. This contributes to a feeling of being supporting by colleagues and a good atmosphere. In addition, you are given responsibility early on which is both challenging and encouraging. 

What are your main learnings and takeaways from the program?

It’s been a great opportunity to learn what it’s like to work in an international environment. When working in an international project team, setting expectations of what is to be done, by whom, when and how is very important. In the beginning, we all had different understandings of things which caused a bit of confusion and delay in the project.

I have also improved my leadership skills and increased my knowledge of different types of revenue streams, and stakeholder’s view of them.

What was the most interesting experience during your internship?

I think the most fun and rewarding part of the project was to talk to Atlas Copco employees all over the world and to learn about their perception of our project. It became very clear that different people view our project differently and highlight different things as important when it comes to a business model for software.
